Did you all know I have a free Newsletter? You’ll love it… all kinds of great photos and free tips!

This thing is enormous. In grinds and churns as it follows the sun. The metallic petals flex and bend with the light as the sun sweeps across the sky. I had never seen anything like it in my life.

It sits in a park and public walking area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I walked around it for a while to get a good angle of the monster. My tripod was stuck in customs, so I had to do this one handheld… and do my best to keep the camera as stead as a T-1000.

You all can see the New Video right here! People that got the Newsletter (it’s free!) got an early sneak peek!

The ‘flower’ was called "Floralis Generica" by his author, the argentine architect Eduardo Catalano. Petals are made out of steel and aluminium. Catalano was a teacher at MIT from 1956 to 1977.

Great processing
It looks like it has sad eyes
It’s a tin man version of goldblum’s fly character, sitting there, urging you to shoot, nay semi automatic bracket shoot him with his sad eyes
I’m going to visit (and drink some port) to see what my peepers see vs my composites
Make sething more than the sum if its parts as you have here.
Cheers!

fclark_floripa says:

A gravity challenging structure… I liked it !

mizcaliflower says:

So is it like POWER?? What does it do? Or is it just a sculpture?

Pinhead 2010 says:

Great photo. This thing looks enormous, is very sci-fi and it’s beautiful. I wonder if it generates enough amps to cover the costs of designing, building and maintainance?

lest-we-forget says:

Hi, I´m an Argentine photographer and journalist and I live in Buenos Aires. The picture is beautiful but I regrett to say that is a PS composition. The flower is located in the gardens of the public TV broadcaster (canal 7) and sorrounded by buildings, for the facilities are situated in the middle of a urban neighborhood. There are no bushes like those in the picture and is impossible (whatever the angle) to take the flower without a single building appearing in the composition. That´s the "awful truth". Alberto

arrive96 says:

Mantap ! Brilliant !

FotoGraf-Zahl says:

@lest-we-forget:

I think you are wrong about this.
I have searched for this sculpture in Google and the first hit brought me to another photo without any building on it (and with bushes in the background):
http://www.waleg.com/archives/017827.html

Moreover, if you look at Trey’s picture with full resolution you see buildings indeed – in the background at the right.
